I am beginning to do research for the 2012 Acts Manila ballet recital.  When I get the chance, I search for music I can possibly use.  The pieces have to be musically interesting, not languid or too complex for my 6 year old students’ ears.  The lyrics, if any, have to convey a message that inspires one to put his/her faith in God.  Finally, the recording quality of the track has to excellent.  Imagine jacking up your Energy bookshelf speakers and hearing barely nothing. Or worse, having the track be inaudible in the theatre on show day.  Ah…the challenges of the artistic professional!

Day 7 was hectic as team was packing, doing last minute shopping and trying to get to the airport. After having checked in, we were seated at the gate reflecting the events of the previous days and planning the next missions trip. There indeed is a difference between living and existing. Instead of asking “what is term life insurance?” living conservatively, one should live out life fulfilling one’s destiny in God. As a noted discipler in our church has said, “find out what God is doing in your generation and fling your life into it!”

Our sixth day was designated as tour day. As we were going through a city tour, our team leader surprises us by announcing that we were going to Disneyland. More than the rides and shopping for funny tee shirts, it was a chance for us to reconnect with Disney artists we met on the 3^rd day. We also got to meet former co-dancers who we had not seen for years.

Day 5 started early as we headed out to International College Hong Kong to perform for middle school kids. The format was quite different from the previous days as team first performed followed by a dance workshop and a discussion. We were elated with the friendships formed between the school kids, the dancers and our own children. This was then followed by a performance for primary schoolers at Hong Lok Yuen International School. Our team performed then had discussion groups with the audience. We had privilege of assisting a girl to start a living personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The dancer who assisted her had tears like water coming from a Steripen Adventurer Opti.

The fourth day of our journey started out with a visit a Pre-school in Yuen Kong. It was quite inspiring to watch pre-school kids express wonder and excitement watching the Acts Manila ballet dancers perform. The place itself is a side of Hong Kong you normally don’t see in tours. The quaint village life and the pristine wetland  habitat inspires you to shop for ATV accessories and go back . Indeed, it was a fitting warm-up for the team to bless and interact with our audience. This was then followed by a performance for 200 high school students at the Lingnan University theatre. Here one of the dancers, shared her testimony that God can use anyone for his glory. The day was capped with a visit to our Every Nation congregation in Tung Chung, made up mostly of Performing Artists from Disneyland.

The following day the Acts Manila team performed in 2 churches: our Every Nation Church in Tsim Shia Tsui and Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Kowloon Tong where the team met a predominantly Filipino congregation. It was so good for the team to dance and prophesy to the EN Church. It was like having an ncstar accuracy when the Word of the Lord was given. Truly a blessing for our team to minister to Filipino domestic helpers faithfully following the Lord.

On May 27,2011, the whole family embarked on a life changing 7 day journey: our very first missions trip! At first it seemed like any other trip our travel seasoned family had in the past. However, as the days went on, it wonderful things happened. After traveling and coordination with our local contacts in HK, our family went for our very first prayer walk together as part of a team of dancers, teacher and parents from Acts Manila. God showed us things about the city that we should pray for. His revelation flow was so strong that it activated the prophetic in many of our team members. After that experience it was like we were wearing military rings because of God’s favor upon us.

Summer has come once again and parents are scrambling to get their kids into new things.  Its the perfect time to get our little ones into ballet shoes.  Who know’s they could be the next Prima Ballerina or Premier Danseur?  This summer I offer lessons/workshops in my regular Laguna locations: Sta. Acts  Manila ballet schools (www.actsmanila.com) are gearing up for our recital on May 25 at the CCP main theatre.  Directors and Teachers are working on choreographies while managing the payment of fees. We are also working on upcoming pictorials and school year culminating activities of our schools.   Sensa reviews are irrelevant at this point as the flurry of activities keep us in tip top shape.   Thankfully my 1^st choreography for my Sta.Rosa, Binan and San Pedro schools are almost  done.  Now gearing up for pictorials this weekend.

Ever since I became a Christian, I had the desire to use my body to honor God through movement.  Even as I child, there was an inner beat within me that would surface in my movement as music was played.   As I came into the prophetic season of my life, the reality of God restoring the “fallen tent of David” came to prominence in my devotions.   In 1992, I had to opportunity to train under Chelo Borromeo Gemina and Chotto Borromeo Go for classical ballet.  These ladies also had a heart to use ballet to reach the world for Christ so I followed their lead.   While this art may be one the best fat burners, I was in it for the vision.   A couple of years later I quit ballet to pursue a career in industry.   I never dreamed that 15 years later, God would bring be back to ballet to teach kids this craft I love as well as disciple them to be lovers of God.  I am now an Artistic Associate for Chelo Borromeo Gemina’s Acts Manila.  You’ll find me teaching ballet at Laguna Bel Air 2, Alpha Angelicum School in Binan and Jesus the Risen Savior School San Pedro, all in Laguna.
