Creating music does involve a lot time, effort and skill. You need instruments, software, sound modules and similar equipment.  At the end of the day it’s about capturing modes and putting them together into a beautiful, harmonious sound.   Perhaps it’s time for me to get good Sound Modules  at WWBW or upgrade my music software library. Here we go..

Check out this yahoo article about Acts Manila’s Duyan ng Magiting. Concept, photography, design, and execution of the ad by yours truly.

For the past year or so, our daughter has constantly prayed for 2 things: an iPad 3 and a baby sister.  While and iPad 3 may be doable, the latter request is not that easy considering our age.  After 3 pregnancies and 1 miscarriage we’re not about to bring out Cohiba cigars as we consider ourselves already blessed with our two kids.  But I guess we never know what God has around the corner.

It is quite common in the Philippines, particularly in the countryside, to have people building their houses on land that are not legally theirs.  While in urban areas informal settlers are frowned upon and a lot of times forcibly resettled, their rural counterparts may not get as much attention.  We were discussing this with someone last night who was thinking of sending funds to her family to build a house on a lot not theirs. We told her that whatever investment you make on a house might just be gone once the rightful owner claims the land.  Think about all the finishing, flooring, doors, cabinetry with malleable iron handle nuts and the like all gone when the land is claimed.  The most prudent thing to do is to buy an affordable house and lot that you can safely call your own.

My mom flew in from Davao last week to be with my kids as they were going to perform in their annual Ballet recital at the CCP main theatre. As usual, grandma brought boxes containing their beloved Pomelo and other treats from our home town.  The thought of opening boxes and packaging makes me think about how to prevent accidents and cuts among kids.  Specifically, how do we implement box cutter safety.  I guess an important way of pursuing this is to instruct and train children in the proper way of using box cutters inorder to prevent accidents.

I recently had an embarassing episode with my phone.  I was very much pleased with my Alcatel One Touch as it was fast and had the things I wanted in a phone.  It ran on Android 4.1 Jellybean.  A couple of days ago, I decided to bring it with me in the bathroom.  Before going to the shower, I put in on a rack when the unthinkable happened.  My precious phone when through the racks wire slats and into the toilet bowl.  I could see the battery draining fast because of the shorting that was happening. I immediately grabbed the phone and took out the battery.  When I reinserted the battery, it had an error which was understandable for a device with shorted terminals. After drying I thought my troubles were over only to learn that the phone would hang upon boot up.  Should I exchange my phone with one of those unlocked blackberry cell phones?  Perhaps I should try to get my Alcatel repaired.

Irecently was reminded of The Dawn, a Filipino band that changed the local music industry.  The influence of this band still lingers up to today.  In a time when music was about doing covers of foreign songs or drug influenced free jam, this band had an ethic to create their own music and have it written down and properly notated.  Their sound was so new that people thought they were a Brit band.  Decades later the risk they took for going against the flow has paid off.  I guess if you have a unique sound, voice or visual artistry.  If your thing is to get a goodtime banjo at guitar center rather than a Peavey, then go for it. Who knows it will someday be the new sound?

We are praying about getting a home that can also serve as an office, dance and photo studio. We want a home that can accommodate a large open space for us to do our creative work. Need to check if my pre-need plan payment can be released anytime in the next few months as it was purchased years ago in annuities best rates.

In a few days one of my ballet schools will have a mall show at SM Muntinlupa. The challenge for me is how to get my students to dance en pointe on a mall stage. Typical mall stages are made of plexi-glass so a special floor has to be put on top of this to keep dancers safe. I will be bringing my own temporary floors for this purpose. Perhaps having pallet racks would come handy to ensure proper transport and storage.

The weather in the Philippines has been strange the past few weeks. Early December, Davao encountered a very powerful typhoon that destroyed many towns and cities. This would have been unusual 20 or 30 years ago. Recently we have been having a lot of rain when this time of year it would usually be cold and dry. What’s next? Will we have to seek out a North Face fleece clearance sale? I guess climate change is real.

It’s Christmas once again and people in the Philippines are running around trying to get their best Noche Buena out. In about an hour, families will gather around their dinner tables to have a feast to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus who saved us from our sins. Presents will then be given. Some will get the coolest toys and video games, others will get pandora beads, still other will get the latest Rick Riordan book. The most important gift we get, is the of eternal life that Jesus offers to those who receive it. Merry Christmas.

I found Tes working on a business card design yesterday. At first I found it too plain, only to realize a subtle logo watermark later on. This design was light years compared to the old calling cards of the client which were very traditional and dated. It just shows that design sensibilities are a function of time as the old calling cards were in about 30 years ago. Who knows what the next design thing for calling cards would be? Metal business cards anyone?
