Rean here…
The fourth day of our journey started out with a visit a Pre-school in Yuen Kong. It was quite inspiring to watch pre-school kids express wonder and excitement watching the Acts Manila ballet dancers perform. The place itself is a side of Hong Kong you normally don’t see in tours. The quaint village life and the pristine wetland habitat inspires you to shop for ATV accessories and go back . Indeed, it was a fitting warm-up for the team to bless and interact with our audience. This was then followed by a performance for 200 high school students at the Lingnan University theatre. Here one of the dancers, shared her testimony that God can use anyone for his glory. The day was capped with a visit to our Every Nation congregation in Tung Chung, made up mostly of Performing Artists from Disneyland.

Rean here…
The following day the Acts Manila team performed in 2 churches: our Every Nation Church in Tsim Shia Tsui and Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Kowloon Tong where the team met a predominantly Filipino congregation. It was so good for the team to dance and prophesy to the EN Church. It was like having an ncstar accuracy when the Word of the Lord was given. Truly a blessing for our team to minister to Filipino domestic helpers faithfully following the Lord.

Rean here…
On May 27,2011, the whole family embarked on a life changing 7 day journey: our very first missions trip! At first it seemed like any other trip our travel seasoned family had in the past. However, as the days went on, it wonderful things happened. After traveling and coordination with our local contacts in HK, our family went for our very first prayer walk together as part of a team of dancers, teacher and parents from Acts Manila. God showed us things about the city that we should pray for. His revelation flow was so strong that it activated the prophetic in many of our team members. After that experience it was like we were wearing military rings because of God’s favor upon us.

Rean here…
Yesterday was a great day as my ballet students from Jesus the Risen Savior School performed my choreography at Pergola mall, BF Paranaque. While they may not have been the best group in terms of technique or performance, they surely stepped up to challenge I set before them. Ballet is about executing steps with right placement and technique while meeting synchronizing movements with the music. The somatic demands beat the best supplements for weight loss as you train for precision control of the whole body. I am truly proud of my girls perfomance yesterday, now I will push them to higher levels of technique and performance.

Frustration gripped me as I walked in the department store…I went to the men’s section…then to the ladies section…finally to the kids section…I couldn’t find it! In the men’s section I only found loose pants, copy cats of originals designed for America’s obese. In the ladies section, I only found substitutes in blues and grays. I finally found it in the kids section only to realize it was small and black! I wished I spent more time searching for it in front of my ACER Aspire. Didn’t Nacho Libre say “there comes a point in life when a man must wear TIGHTS”!!! ARGGHHH! I finally decided on white boxers instead.

Rean here…
Since my childhood, dance has always been a part of my life. There would often be an inner beat that I could follow to express myself through my body. There were times when I was so conscious about my technical abilities as a dancer similar to a teenager’s perusing of www.howtoremovepimples.org. There were other times when I was bothered about what people would say if I did something lyrical like jazz or ballet. Through all these times, one truth has remained, I dance for God. It is the vehicle through which I declare the goodness of my Creator and Savior. It is the pulpit on which I stand. While I continue to hone my skill as a teacher and dancer, it is the Spirit of God that makes me effective in my mission.

Rean here
The last couple of days have been very exciting for me. After so many years, I joined a contemporary dance workshop conducted by Compania Artemis Danza. What was even more delightful was the nature of the technique taught: Post-modern influenced by Aikido. SUPER! I was flushed with adrenalin that I started doing the leaps and bounds. I seemed oblivious to the fact that I’m in my late 30’s. A reality check came as I hit my face on the floor as landed from a leap. It wasn’t the best acne treatment, but it sure gave me the grounding I needed. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Part of our home school exercises today featuring the original poetry of my kids, Kai (grade 5) and Aemu (grade 2). Their poems are unedited and are published as is. Haiku has other related forms such as the senryu, renku, tanka, haibun and haiga. In haiku, it is about man within the world while in senryu, it is the world within the man.
THE POETRY OF DANCE – A HAIKU SERIES
From Kai:
… the soul expressing
transforming into stories
wonderful and vague…
charged with emotion
that which words cannot portray
bringing us to tears…
From Aemu:
… dancing with no one
in an empty pink chamber
dancing all alone…
dancing in a room
in an empty pink chamber
dancing for Mother…
More to come in the future! Thanks for reading.

Rean (again!!!)
After more than 10 years, Tes took her 1st ballet class last Friday. This intermediate level modern ballet session forced her to do splits, jetes and rolls she hasn’t done in ages. It was quite understandable that my dear wife was sore all over during the 2 days that followed. As this is only a temporary setback, I expect her to reap the long term benefits of this activity. The total body work out will definitely keep her fit as a fiddle. Perhaps it’s time for us to shop around for new clothes, lingerie, etc.
