The ongoing financial crisis has been burden to almost everyone.  One sometimes wonders if investment vehicles available in the market would be there tomorrow.   In times like these, people usually go for commodity investments. It’s not surprising for people who go to brokers or dealers like Golden Eagle buy gold.  At least, if you buy commodities, the worst the happens is that your stuck with the inventory you can sell later on.

Tes and I had this discussion a few days ago about gadgets and stuff.  Should I buy a new laptop or a tablet pc?  Should I go Mac or PC? Android or IOS? Macbook Air, Pro or iPad? Regular or tablet laptops? In my job as a ballet teacher, I need the ability to play good music anywhere.  In some places I go, I have deal with  music bad players.  I also need the ability to take videos of my classes so I can study how my students dance. Cosidering price, portability and added services, I guess the best solution for me would be to get an iPad.

The weather was dreary yesterday. This, right after a hot day Sat. Roads were soaking wet and cars queued in panic in anticipation for floods. A scene caught my eye yesterday as we passed through the skyway on out northbound route: a car in a deadbug position right before the old tollgate of the highway. Would definitely have been a nice case study on collision estimating. Fortunately, the passengers riding the car were ok.

I recently went home to Davao, on the occasion of my Mom’s birthday.  This is her first Anniversaire after my Dad went home to be with the Lord. I’d say it was a good time for me to have gone home as she was sick for a few days. Despite her illness, Mom went on showing old stuff that were my Dad’s.  On one instance, she showed me their coin collection which she wanted to be passed on to the kids. It probably contains custom challenge coins.  Sometime in the recent past, a German visitor mentioned that some of their European coins were now highly prized in Numismatists’ circles. Perhaps I should hunt down a coin expert to help us on of these days.

I’ve been working with my son on GED practice tests in the last few days.  Our intent is to accelerate his schooling to skip a few years of high school right into college.  He may take his college online so he can continue his ballet training.  It also gives him the chance to pursue his degree without sacrificing things he really loves. He may be skipping high school graduation invitations but he will likely to have lived his life to the fullest.

Last night I watched a series on NGC about paying attention.  Throughout the episode, it was shown repeatedly that, as humans, we have very limited attention thus making multitasking close to impossible.  This made me rethink they idea of using my cellphone while driving.  The show also mentioned that cars hit motorcycles because they only look for cars when turning.  So whether or not you’re wearing the latest Nolan N43 motorcycle helmet, you’re still bound to get an accident.

Recently had our 13th wedding anniversary.  We had dinner at the Italianni’s Nuvali where we had French Fries with Truffle sauce for appetizer. For entree’s I had Italian Style Roast Chicken and while Tes had the pork counterpart.  Overall the experience was lovely and the tab was affordable.  I guess it was on of the best anniversary gifts for husband anniversary.

Acts Manila recently opened a studio at the Molito Commercial Center in Alabang.  This is envisioned to train world class dancers regardless of socio-economic status in line with our pursuit for genuine social transformation in the Philippines.  We have started offering ballet classes to kids and adults.  Next week we will be giving a trial class for ballroom.  In the next few weeks, we will likely put on display Acts Manila merchandise. Perhaps will have some sort of personal creations couponsin the future.

Being a teacher is probably one of the most fulfilling jobs there is. It gives one the opportunity to invest into the next generation of leaders and shapers of society. It does have its downsides, such as, the possibility of frustration when promising students do not achieve the best the can be. Nevertheless, the rewards of helping another person fulfill their destiny in God outweighs the pain. Manufacturing Engineer or Medical Equipment Preparer jobs don’t have this privilege.

Last Sunday, the family went shopping for clothes as we were going to a special occasion.  I was helping my 8 year old daughter fit a dress she liked. It was an elegant black, knee length dress   It took quite a while as the rfid tag was in the way of the button.  Thankfully I was  able to get the button through.  So we ended up buying the dress.  The things a father has to go through for a fashionista daughter.
